Bad Sandy 2015: a Paparazzi by day Pop Culture & Feminist Crusader by Night

October 27, 2015

Frames and Stretchers and Bad Sandy 2015 in the Lower East Side
We at Frames and Stretchers are pleased to be part of this amazing project by Australian artist Sandra Schnellhaus. Sandra launched a kickstarter project on August 2015 and was funded on September 3, 2015. She wanted to exhibit 20 works and needed to ship them from Australia to New York. That's 15,979 km for BAD SaNdy to travel. And guess what... She did it!!

She contacted Frames and Stretchers to frame some of her artwork for the show. We installed straighteners to the wood panels and framed them using the Delancey Black floater frame. The result was a very simple framing that complemented her colorful artwork.

Bad Sandy is the Alter Ego of Artist Sandra Schnellhaus. Schnellhaus runs an International Celebrity Photo agency and is exposed everyday to 1,000's of celebrity photos from all around the world. Schnellhaus fascination with computers and what they can bring to art-making as well as total submergence in popular culture has shifted the way Schnellhaus wants her art shared, leaked, posted. The Mixed Media mid scale pieces following the adventures of Bad Sandy evolve using the magic of Internet to heighten the images to digital works that are speed balling on fairy dust. The Blonde Sweatband wearing heroine sends a message of strength as Schnellhaus', Colorful, Comic strip, Pop Art, Street art, commentary of popular culture and celebrity events hope spark a paradigm in digital art.
