Stacia showing off our latest collaboration
Frames and Stretchers has a new work of art in the house! Our showroom office is now graced with a fabulous wall hanging by Brooklyn-based fiber artist Jeila Gueramian. The powerful work depicts the word “LAZER” in a hot magenta, echoing the Frames and Stretchers logo. The framing job was a collaborative effort between Frames and Stretchers, Rob the Frame Master and the skilled craftsmanship of Randy Hess. Randy is an artist based in Norfolk, Virginia who also creates a beautiful line of frames under the name, Springfield Bespoke Frames. Our design was presented to The Frame Master who always manages to make the perfect custom framing matches! Rob put us in touch with Randy who executed the hand painting. The piece was fitted and finished in house with nearly invisible museum glass and is now a show stopping addition to our showroom.

Jeila Gueramian is a California native with a BFA from Otis Parsons School of Design. She spent several years working in costume design and props as well as producing plush sculptures and puppets. In 2011 she re-focused her attention on her fine art practice and participated in a six-month residency at The Wassaic Project in upstate New York. This residency culminated in a large-scale installation. She has since done major installations at Children's Museum of the Arts, New York, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas and Mixed Greens and Allegra LaViola galleries in New York City.

Jeila’s body of work includes: full room installations, magical light boxes, wall hangings like the one at Frame and Stretchers and fantastical sculptural creatures - often based on her imaginative drawings. She and her partner and children also make up the Superspirit Family Band, a neo-psychedelic band begun in San Francisco. Jeila currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
