Frames and Stretchers Celebrates 4 Years During Clemente Open Studios!

Frames and Stretchers is celebrating our 4th Anniversary and we hope you'll join us!
We'll be featuring the work of Frames and Stretchers team members Miguel Trelles and Xolo Cantillo and simultaneously hosting our annual Community Talent Showcase featuring actor and artist Gilberto Diaz Flores.
Our celebration will take place at our Lower East Side location during the Clemente's annual "Open Doors Open Studios",
The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center is hosting its 23rd annual building-wide Visual & Performing Arts event, "Open Doors Open Studios", on Friday, May 31st from 6:00 - 9:00pm and Saturday, June 1st from 4:00 - 8:00pm. This year’s event will feature five floors of visual and performance art plus theater, film, dance and musical events. All events are FREE and open to the public.
Miguel Trelles will be showing works from his continuing "Chino-Latino" series in his studio. Xolo Cantillo will be showing works from his current "Outside the Cube" series.

"Outside the Cube" is about the naturalness of things. Taking wood as the main element in his new project, Xolo bases his focus on the need to be able to contemplate everything as an infinite range of posivilidades (causes and effects).

Community Talent Showcase
Gilberto Gabriel Díaz Flores is a Puerto Rican artist with a diverse creative background. He studied art at the University of Puerto Rico at Humacao while completing a degree in Industrial Chemistry. He first exhibited at the UPR-H and more recently had an exhibition called “6480 in NYC” at Teatro Latea (in the Clemente) in which he showed his first works done in NYC after moving from P.R. in 2013. Gilberto is also an actor and singer.
