Over Miguel Trelles' career in the arts and education, drawing has become the essence of his art. He often works between drawing and painting, and regularly produces prints in different media, most notably silkscreens and serigraphs.
Miguel Trelles' Chino-Latino painting series showcased in this fair encompasses both a contemporary Caribbean landscape influenced by Chinese dynastic masterpieces, as well as narrative figurations that reference Chinese and Latin American visual sources.

Miguel Trelles identifies as a “Borimix” (a Puerto Rican of Cuban descent with strong Dominican ties). He began exhibiting in the early 1990’s and has shown artwork in New York, New Haven and San Juan, with paintings and prints travelling to Miami, Havana, Santo Domingo, Lima, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and Paris. As a working artist his studio is located within Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center in New York City’s Lower East Side, where he also works as Executive Director and Frames and Stretchers Co-Founder.
