Custom Natural Maple Frames for JR Street Art Lithographs
An exciting project in our Frames and Stretchers Studio was recently having the opportunity to create three custom natural maple frames for the prominent French street artist known as JR.
These beautiful lithographs show high quality photos of JR's murals in different locations around the world; including Haiti, Paris, and more. The impressive scale of JR's artworks appear alongside edges of buildings and add an element of the unexpected to the city's skyline.

Custom Framed with Natural Maple Wood in New York
To give these pieces the best art conservation and protection for years to come, we created three beautiful natural maple frames in New York that were fully customized to the artworks dimensions. We float mounted the artwork to allow the organic edges and the maxiumum surface area of the lithograph to be revealed elegantly over acid-free museum board selected for it's archival and pH neutral quality.
For photographic prints, lithographs, and delicate artworks on paper, we use Japanese paper and rice paste to create a series of hidden hinges that will allow the artwork to appear floating on museum board underneath. Each of JR's lithographs are protected by a final layer of Museum Glass which gives UV protection and anti-reflective benefits. These conservation techniques are fully archival and reversible, should the owner wish to change the framing style or remove the artwork for transport or sale in the future.
