The Artwork of Mammel Dieter: from Berlin to The Lower East Side
September 08, 2015
The team at Frames and Stretchers is very excited with our most recent job. Yesterday we built a big wood gallery wrap stretcher and stretched this beautiful canvas from the internationally well known artist Mammel Dieter. He sent this canvas from Berlin and we will be delivering it to his collector in New York as part of our full concierge service.
Mammel studied 1986-1991 painting at the Academy in Stuttgart and Berlin, graduating with a master student in Berlin. The "Villa Serpentara Scholarship" of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, 1991 and 1993 led him to Italy. From 1997 to 2003 Mammel taught painting and art history at the Media Design Academy, Berlin. He received several studio grants from the Berlin Senate, the Karl Hofer scholarship, and from 2007 to 2012, the studio scholarship from the city of Frankfurt am Main.
In addition to solo exhibitions of his paintings, drawings and prints as in 1999 at the Kunsthalle Gothenburg, 2003 at the Kunstmuseum Bonn, 2005 in Pinakothek Athens and 2011 in Osthaus Museum Hagen and Pera Museum Istanbul Mammel developed video installations as well as stage for spoken and dance theater.
Dieter Mammel lives in Berlin and Frankfurt. You can view more of his work at: www.dieter-mammel.de
