Sanchez - Zambrano: The Sound Of Others A Multimedia Exhibition
Vincent Zambrano's paintings are representative works of people at rest. The subjects are composed like still lifes, with the realism of the sleeping people enhanced by a prerecorded sound. You'll be able to hear four orchestrated sounds that are intended to transport you into a one of a kind experience.
By contrast, Erick Sanchez's paintings are abstract, representing natural forces exploding into the world. Sharing Vincent's sound, Erick's paintings evoke immense drama and energy.
The paintings and sound installation are part of the 2016 Open Studios at The Clemente. 107 Suffolk St. Studio 301 Open Studios: May 20 - 21 Opening Hours: May 20 / 6-9 pm - May 21 / 12-6 pm

Dor Malka - Miguel Trelles
As part of The Clemente 2016 Open Studios, Dor Malka will be the guest artist of Miguel Trelles (Studio 303). Dor Malka is an established well-known photographer that grew up in Israel. In 15 years he grew his studio in Tel-Aviv into a powerhouse of celebrities and artistic icons. His minimalist aesthetic and sophisticated use of lighting highlight the sharp nuances and natural beauty of his subjects. His work has been published and praised in both magazines and galleries. Dor currently works out of New York City.
For his part, Miguel Trelles will have new chino-latino and figurative paintings on view. The title of the small oil featured here, "a esconderse que ahi viene la basura", comes from an old Cuban cha-cha-chá tune (composed by Jorge Zamora and popularized by Orquesta Aragón, which translates to something like "Duck, here comes the trash collector"). Trelles’ ongoing painting series, CHINO-LATINO, addresses the compelling beauty of Chinese landscape and figure painting, combining it with Pre-Columbian and Colonial Latin American elements. Also on view during the event will be Trelles' silkscreens addressing Latin American and Puerto Rican popular culture and roots.
