As members of a larger community, our team at Frames and Stretchers looks forward to supporting the variety of happenings at the Clemente Center, our picture-framing headquarters in the Lower East Side.
Established in 2006, this year’s Borimix: Puerto Rico Fest will be celebrating San Juan’s 500 year anniversary as the capital city. The visual arts portion of the festival, titled Stone Yucayeque, aspires to reflect on how San Juan was erected on the islet, as well as “the evolution of its iconicity throughout these past 5 centuries of representations, while also seeking to honor the indigenous (naborias) and the stolen Africans, the ‘entrusted’ and the enslaved, anonymous laborers, all responsible for carrying out the construction of a new city or stone yucayeque.”
You can show your support for small businesses, Puerto Rican artists and The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center by attending our welcome event on Friday November 12 at 7 pm for an evening featuring Frames and Stretchers’ very own Miguel Trelles.
There will be an annual ceremony and performances from Willy Rodriguez’ Exploraciones Ponceñas’ and William Parker’s Southern Satellite, presented by Arts for Art. Please RSVP. Proof of vaccination is required upon entry.
Our custom picture frame shop has so enjoyed calling the Clemente Center home for the last 6 years, and Trelles, a founding partner, has played an integral role in multiple aspects of the center for 28 years.
