Two Custom Maple Frames For Floating Signed Lithographs by Marc Chagall

The beauty of working in custom framing allows both the framer and the client to collaboratively make design choices for the best conservation of the artwork. First our team created a condition report for the artworks to assess the paper quality before designing two custom maple picture frames in NYC for these lithographs by Marc Chagall.

We used the best archival processes for floating these delicate and valuable artworks, which have deckled edges the client wanted to feature floating within the frame. Using Japanese paper and rice paste hinging, our frame fitters created a series of hidden hinges that are fully reversible, damage-free, and pH neutral to conserve the artwork best. These Japanese paper and rice paste hinges are expertly placed to adhere to the archival Museum Board underneath, allowing the artwork to appear floating with secure support and stability built into the design.
